Expanding Asset Journey Mapping leveraging GPS
Timeline: Single-phase delivery with ongoing optimization
Role: Product Manager – Asset Visibility & Real-Time Mapping
Scope: Device Journey Mapping Inside & Outside Mesh Network
🧩 Why (Problem)
Originally, the platform supported only BLE-enabled devices within a mesh network. As the business expanded to GPS/Cellular-enabled devices, customers needed:
Seamless visibility across network boundaries
A consistent, accurate journey view in the portal regardless of device type
Differentiation in location accuracy and device confidence levels for diagnostics
Lack of this capability meant high-value shipments were hard to track end-to-end, increasing customer dissatisfaction and platform limitations.
🚀 What (Solution)
I led the design and delivery of a hybrid journey mapping experience, including:
Logic to switch contextually between mesh and GPS devices
Prioritization of devices based on ping freshness and data confidence
UI/UX enhancements to support Google Maps integration, location accuracy differentiation, and clear state transitions
🔧 How (Execution)
🔍 Business/Product:
Conducted gap analysis of BLE-only support vs hybrid requirements
Defined change requests and aligned internal stakeholders on scope
🎨 Design:
Ran multiple working sessions with designers and leads
Built customer-focused journey flows and wireframes
Defined UI states for device type, ping freshness, and transitions
👨💻 Engineering:
Authored specs with logic flow for device prioritization, location fallback, and confidence scoring
Defined QA edge cases and acceptance criteria
Participated in sprint grooming, release planning, and documentation
🔄 Internal Stakeholder Management:
Maintained a feedback loop with customer support and product teams
Negotiated scope tradeoffs to balance feature completeness with timely release
